Restoring a Fractured Drain Under Block Paving Without Excavation
The Challenge: A homeowner in Accrington experienced repeated ground-floor toilet backups and unpleasant drain odours. Initial investigation by an independent handyman suggested excavating the newly laid block-paved driveway, costing upwards of £3,000 in disruption and repaving work.
Our Investigation: Drain Medics conducted a high-definition CCTV Drain Survey. We pinpointed multiple circumferential fractures and displaced joints in a 100mm glazed clay pipe running directly beneath the driveway, likely caused by heavy vehicular weight and ground movement over time.
The Solution: Instead of costly excavation, our team performed high-pressure water jetting to clear scale and debris before installing a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP Drain Relining) system. Using resin-impregnated felt liner calibrated with air inversion, we formed a seamless, structurally sound pipe inside the old damaged line.
